DOGMOOR

Surrounded by an iron fence, the dogs of Dogmoor will be protected from the traffic of the surrounding city streets and bike path. Each entrance will consist of a double gated entry way to ensure that dogs cannot accidently escape into traffic. Two large iron gates will be closed and locked except for when city maintenance vehicles need access to the park.  Trees planted by the Hike for KaTREEna project and Monique Plie' will provide shade during the dog days of summer, and water will run from a central fountain as well as faucets located around the park.

Integral to the Dogmoor design is the concept of a multi-use dog park. In addition to an area exclusively for small dogs, there will also be a training and education section of the park. There, obedience, agility, and formal socialization classes will be conducted. When classes are not in session, the agility equipment will remain for use by any dog up to the challenge.

There will be numerous trash cans and bag dispensers to ensure the dog park remains clean, sanitary, and easy to enjoy. While the city’s leash law will not be enforced within the dog park, the dog waste ordinance will be, and civil fines will be levied against noncompliant dog park users.
